Alexander Kerensky
Aleksandr Fyodorovich
Kerensky. Born in Simbirsk, Russia on April 22nd 1881, died in
the USA on June 11th 1970. He was a member of the moderate Labor
party until the February Revolution in 1917, when he became a
leader in the Socialist Revolutionary party and forced the
Bolsheviks underground, arresting Trotsky and several others
(Lenin escaped to Finland). The Socialist Revolutionaries became
more and more unpopular because they were for fighting in the
WWI, and because social reforms were slow to take place. Kerensky
headed the provisional Russian government before the Bolshevik
takeover in November 1917. He flied to Paris and then to the USA,
where he lived and lectured until his death in 1970.
